What Is The Veil Fire Essence Used For?
Fire Essence has two uses: exchange it with Bobby in the main story quest for the Smoldering Horn to summon the Smelter Demon, or deliver it to Briar as a class quest material.

Fulfilling Bobby's Terms in Echohold
Bobby the Blacksmith is located at his stall in Echohold. The Scorch Basin is where you hunt Cambions for the required materials.
Speaking with Bobby begins the quest Bobby's Terms. You must satisfy three separate tallies on your quest tracker before he will forge what you need: defeat five Imps, defeat one Cambion, and obtain one Fire Essence. Having the kill tallies completed does not award the essence automatically.
Farming Cambions: Locations in The Scorch Basin
Travel to The Scorch Basin to find spear-wielding Cambions. If you have registered The Scorch Basin waypoint, you can select it from an Obelisk fast travel menu.
Once in the basin, avoid the dangerous molten surface below and climb the ropes leading up to the stone plateaus. The upper ledges are dotted with orange glowing flora, campfires, wandering Imps, and Cambions carrying spears.
Fast travel to The Scorch Basin
Once The Scorch Basin waypoint is unlocked, interact with the Obelisk in Echohold and select The Scorch Basin from the destination list.
Climb up to the stone plateaus
Use the hanging ropes near the drop point to ascend onto the elevated rock platforms. Stick to the upper walkways where campfire clearings and demon spawns reside.
Eliminate Cambions and Imps
Engage the horned Cambions holding spears to hunt for your material, clearing nearby Imps alongside them to fulfill your auxiliary kill quotas.
Pick up the glowing drop on the ground
After defeating a Cambion, check the ground. If you see the prompt "Pick Up Fire Essence", press the interact key (E on PC) and confirm it is added to your bag.

Returning to Bobby for the Smoldering Horn
Once the Imp (5/5) and Cambion (1/1) requirements are also met, obtaining the Fire Essence completes Bobby's Terms and updates the objective to deliver it back to Echohold.
Warp back to Echohold
Use an Obelisk to return to Echohold and head to Bobby's Blacksmith stall.
Choose the quest completion dialogue
Talk to Bobby, Blacksmith and select "Here’s the fire." to hand in the Fire Essence.
Collect the Smoldering Horn
Confirm the "Items Obtained" prompt with +Smoldering Horn added to your bag. Your next main objective will update to target the Smelter Demon.

Supplying Briar for the Florist Class Quest
Bobby is not the only person who needs Fire Essence. Players pursuing the Florist combat discipline must also bring a Fire Essence to Briar in The Glade.
Briar waits in the flower fields below the Stylist structure. Talking to her unlocks the Florist class quest, placing an item checklist on your screen that requires one Hiveling Arm, one Fire Essence, and one Cyst Worm.
Why Your Fire Essence Objective Is Not Counting
The most common issue players face is assuming that finishing monster kill requirements automatically awards the material. If your tracker shows Imps 5/5 and Cambions 1/1 in green but Fire Essence remains at 0/1, you have not actually looted the essence.
Cambions do not drop Fire Essence on every single defeat. When an essence does drop, it lands as an interactive object on the terrain. If you sprint away after combat without pressing your interaction key (E on PC), the drop stays behind and your quest will not progress.
Always watch your screen for the green Items Obtained pop-up and check your quest log before leaving The Scorch Basin. Additionally, remember that Fire Essence is traded to Bobby to craft the Smoldering Horn; you cannot summon the Smelter Demon using the essence directly.

Where is Bobby located to start and turn in Bobby's Terms?
Bobby is stationed at the Blacksmith stall in Echohold. Travel to The Scorch Basin to gather materials, then return to Echohold to turn them in.
Is Fire Essence guaranteed to drop from every Cambion?
No. Fire Essence is a chance-based drop. You may need to defeat several spear-wielding Cambions on the upper plateaus before seeing one drop onto the ground.
Does Fire Essence summon the Smelter Demon directly?
No. You must hand the Fire Essence to Bobby in Echohold. He will give you the Smoldering Horn, which is the actual item required to challenge the Smelter Demon in the Veil at night.
Does drinking a Nightcall Potion guarantee a Fire Essence drop?
No. Some players drink Nightcall Potions to force night conditions and speed up monster farming runs, but it is an optional strategy and does not guarantee the item will drop.
Where are Cambions located in The Veil?
Cambions spawn on the elevated stone plateaus within The Scorch Basin. Use the climbing ropes near the basin entrance to reach the upper walkways, where spear-wielding Cambions patrol near Imps and campfires.
Why is Fire Essence 0/1 after killing Cambions?
Killing Cambions does not place Fire Essence directly into your inventory, nor is a drop guaranteed on every kill. If it drops, Fire Essence appears on the ground where the monster died. Check the ground and interact with the Pick Up Fire Essence prompt (E on PC) to add it to your bag.
