Staff of Voidmending Profile

The Staff of Voidmending is classified as a Legendary summoning weapon featuring two distinct active abilities: Burning Graveyard and Void Rift. Once you possess the weapon, head to Aurorite to complete Summoning Mastery in order to use it, rather than advancing character class levels. This mastery trains you to wield the weapon you already own rather than serving as the source for obtaining it.
Unlocking Summoning Mastery with Aurorite

Unlocking the active abilities of the staff requires traveling to Sky Island to complete the summoning trial given by the mastery trainer Aurorite. Reach the island by taking the route from Shimmering Sanctum, unlock the local waypoint for fast travel, and carry 1,000 Ichor to pay for the final training lesson.
Accept What Answers When Called (1/2)
Speak with Aurorite on Sky Island to start the quest. Look for the on-screen objective tracking your progress under Summons raised.
Raise 300 Summons
Use your summoning abilities until the counter displays 300 raised summons. The quest monitors the total number of summons brought into the world rather than enemy defeats or damage output.
Return and Report to Aurorite
Once the counter reaches 300, return to Aurorite on Sky Island and choose the dialogue response Three hundred answered me.
Select the Final Lesson for 1,000 Ichor
After the Mastery Quest Complete banner displays, continue the dialogue and select Can you finally teach me? (1,000 Ichor). Proceed until Aurorite responds with Then listen to finish unlocking the mastery.
Staff Abilities: Burning Graveyard and Void Rift
The Staff of Voidmending provides two active combat spells with distinct visual profiles and separate cooldowns. On PC, the interface displays T for Burning Graveyard and U for Void Rift, while on other platforms, follow the prompts displayed on your screen.

Burning Graveyard produces an expanding circular white misty zone along the ground, followed by recurring bright flames erupting around targets in the area. Void Rift generates a tall, vertical pillar of swirling black and white rift energy, and its U ability is guaranteed to spawn 2 Starving Warriors.
| Ability | Visual Effect | PC Prompt |
|---|---|---|
| Burning Graveyard | Circular white ground mist with recurring bright flame bursts | T |
| Void Rift | Tall vertical pillar of black and white rift energy; guaranteed spawn of 2 Starving Warriors | U |

Using the Staff in Combat
When engaging targets with the staff, deploy Burning Graveyard near the enemies you want to hit, then reposition to maintain room to move while the field remains active.

Summon Void Rift near your target to call down the rift pillar and deploy its 2 guaranteed Starving Warriors into combat. Because both spells run on separate cooldown timers shown on the interface, track each individual cooldown countdown to coordinate your next ability.
Troubleshooting Staff Abilities and Mastery
If staff abilities fail to activate or remain locked on your interface, check your training progress and active equipment prompts.
Complete Aurorite's Training Dialogue
If the Mastery Quest Complete banner appeared but abilities remain locked, speak to Aurorite on Sky Island again. Select the 1,000 Ichor training option and advance until the dialogue displays Then listen.
Check Active Cooldown Timers
Examine the ability icons in the lower interface. Both spells display visible countdown timers after activation, during which they cannot be recast.
Check Equipment and Hotbar Prompts
Select or equip the staff and check the displayed ability prompts. If no hotkeys appear on screen, ensure the staff is currently chosen on your active hotbar.
Verify Platform Input Prompts
Match your input to the controls shown on your current interface. PC displays show T and U, while on other platforms, follow the prompts on your screen.
Quick answers
Does unlocking Sky Sentinel grant Summoning Mastery?
No. Character class progression and weapon mastery are separate systems in The Veil. You must complete Aurorite's trial on Sky Island to unlock the abilities for the Staff of Voidmending regardless of your class.
Why is the What Answers When Called quest counter not advancing?
The trial specifically tracks raising 300 summons. Defeating enemies or dealing damage does not advance the counter; you must bring summons into the world to see the number increase.
Can Burning Graveyard and Void Rift be cast together in combat?
Yes. Burning Graveyard and Void Rift operate on independent cooldown timers and separate input prompts, allowing you to deploy the ground mist and the vertical rift pillar in the same encounter.
